Unbound is a mobile app built to help you plan meals, track nutrition and workouts, and order groceries through Instacart. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the app, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We keep this simple because that's what you deserve.

Who We Are

What We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information: Your name and email address when you create an account.

Profile and goal data: Age, biological sex, height, weight, target weight, activity level, dietary preferences, and food allergies — the information you provide so we can calculate your calorie and macro targets.

Nutrition and workout logs: Foods you log, meals you track, workouts you record, and body weight entries. This is the core data the app runs on.

Apple Health data: With your permission, we read sleep, heart rate variability, steps, active calories, and workout data from Apple Health. We use this only to personalize your daily brief and macro recommendations. We never write to Apple Health without your consent and we never use Health data for advertising.

Photos: If you use food photo logging or progress photos, those images are processed to identify food items or stored locally on your device. Progress photos are never uploaded to our servers.

Usage data: Basic information about how you use the app — which features you use, crash reports, and session information — so we can fix bugs and improve the product.

Referral data: If you use or share a referral code, we track which accounts were created using which code for the purpose of running our monthly giveaway and creator revenue share program.

How We Use It

We use the information we collect to:

Run the app — generate your meal plans, daily brief, macro targets, and workout tracking
Personalize your experience using your goals, food history, and Apple Health data
Facilitate Instacart grocery orders and track affiliate commissions
Administer the monthly referral giveaway
Send your daily brief and app notifications

Understand how the app is being used so we can improve it

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data.

Who We Share It With

We share your data only with the services that help us run the app:

Xano: Our backend infrastructure where your account and app data is stored.

Anthropic (Claude API): We send your meal preferences, goals, and nutrition history to Claude to generate your daily brief and meal plans. This data is processed per Anthropic's data use policies.

Instacart: When you tap the grocery order button, we send your meal plan grocery list to Instacart. Instacart's own privacy policy governs what they do with that data.

Analytics tools: We may use tools like Mixpanel or PostHog to understand aggregate usage patterns. These tools receive anonymized usage data.

We do not share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Xano's cloud infrastructure in the United States. We use encrypted data transmission (HTTPS) and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

If you are outside the United States, your data is transferred to and processed in the United States when you use the app.

Your Choices

Apple Health: You can revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy > Health.

Notifications: You can manage push notification preferences in iOS Settings.

Marketing emails: You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.

Delete your account: Email us at hello@liveunbound.app and we will delete your account and associated data within 30 days.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of your data. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@liveunbound.app.

Children

Unbound is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have done so, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

AI-Generated Content

Unbound uses AI to generate meal plans, daily briefs, and restaurant recommendations. These are suggestions based on the data you provide — they are not medical advice, nutritional counseling, or a substitute for professional guidance. Use your own judgment and consult a healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet.

Canadian Users (PIPEDA)

If you are a resident of Canada, your personal information is handled in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

Consent. We collect, use, and disclose your personal information only with your knowledge and consent, except where permitted or required by law. By creating an account and using the Services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide you with the Services.

Privacy officer. We have designated hello@liveunbound.app as our privacy contact responsible for overseeing compliance with PIPEDA and handling privacy-related inquiries and complaints from Canadian users. We will respond to all written privacy requests within 30 days.
